About The Event
Diastatis Recti is an abdominal separation that occurs with pregnancy. If the separation does not resolve, it can cause problems with power (i.e. ability to lift your child or getting back to lifting weights at the gym) and eventually could cause problems as severe as a protrusion of your abdominal organs. Some symptoms that hint you may have Diastasis Recti are: back pain, still looking pregnant after having a baby, doming/bulging of the tummy, or leakage.
This workshop is part of a monthly series on specific problems during and after pregnancy. We will begin with discussing the anatomy of the core/pelvic floor and the changes in body structure and function during and after pregnancy. We will then discuss why this occurs and learn how to manage issues that can occur. We will discuss how to prevent/treat this issue and complete simple exercises to begin to resolve issues and manage pain. This is for women who are being proactive during pregnancy or have some of the symptoms listed above after pregnancy.
